This place is the absolute greatest! I used to work in the area and come here religiously. I have since gotten another job but still make the 30 minute drive to eat here on the weekend. You will not be disappointed!

Meatballs. It's all about the meatballs. Alas, I lost a couple of them in half my sandwich to my father, but boy, the half of my meatball sandwich I did get to have was way awesome yummy. Two of the brothers working there were really nice, asked us how our food was, even entertained and interacted with our kiddos (we would not recommend, for your own health and well-being). Great cases of prepared foods to go. We didn't buy anything as we have an afternoon canoeing trip we were going to take, and refrigerated foods and cars parked outdoors really don't mix. We also had a basic salad, and they even served spaghetti and balls for the kiddos (they had extra pasta in the back) though it was only on their catering menu. I felt the sausage for their sandwich was too sweet for my tastes, but dad liked it. Hubby had an Italian, and I would have loved a taste but for the fact that I was overstuffed. We took home the leftover spaghetti (perfectly al dente yay!), but kids gobbled up all the balls. Yum, yum, total yum.

Great sandwiches after a kayak outing in nearby Marsh Creek Park! My son loved the meatballs and I enjoyed the italian panini. We enjoyed all of them at an outdoor table. Very casual deli style eating but classy. We will be back after our next kayak trip!

We picked up a few trays for a birthday party and could not have been more pleased. I wasn't quite sure what to order and the staff (I later found out he was one of the owners) was very helpful. Covered all of the bases from apps to heating trays to dinnerware. Price was spot on. But it was the food that deserves the 5 stars. I was worried since I was serving a mixed crowd (at least 5 states, many generations) that someone would complain about something. Not one complaint! Probably because people had their mouths full of food. And when finally did talk? They asked for more. My daughter originally put a small bite of an eggplant napoleon on her plate to try. She came back and asked for the whole thing, declaring it one of the most delicious things she's ever eaten. As did my other daughter. That's right: my kids asked for more eggplant and spinach. The meatballs were gone in a flash. The guests were eating them without rolls (even though I ordered those, too) because they were apparently that good (I'm a vegetarian, so I can't comment). Everything was terrific, we will definitely be back.

Was lucky enough to get a hoagie from here at work one day and wow -- excellent! Just like momma used to make! High quality meat, cheese, veggies and bread... everyone at work loves them. They are a touch pricier than your average hoagie show -- but this is so much more... it is worth the extra dollar.

It was my turn to get Saturday dinner so I searched Yelp for the best takeout in the area. I headed for Montesano bros in Eagle and got some lasagna and meatballs with pasta and also picked up some brocolli raab(sp?). The meal was delicious, I will be back soon for some more.

Wanted a good roast beef and provolone hoagie, found these guys on yelp. Place was clean with lots of goodies around (cheese, pasta, gourmet sodas etc) and service was prompt and friendly. Checked on us outside to see if we were satisfied: we were! Simple and delicious hoagies - heap of fresh rare beef, sharp provolone, and all the rest just right. This is what we came here for and they nailed it: five stars if you want a delicious hoagie.

Found this gem after a kayaking trip at Marsh Creek State Park (just around the corner). The food is fresh and served in a timely manner. Roast beef is sliced fresh, none of that prepackaged salty muck thats been sitting in a pan for god knows how long. Wawa doesn't have anything on these hoagies. Quality meat, cheese and veggies all the way. The staff is A+ on service. Friendly, open and even went so far to double check we had everything we needed and that the food was good -All that and we were sitting outside. Yes, he came outside to make sure everything was on point and I'm pretty sure he wasn't the owner. 5 star service I haven't had seen in a while. The shop has an array of cheese (I wanted to buy it all), meats, olives, frozen goodies and pasta stuffs. What appeared to be fresh baked rolls for sale. Piano in the corner (Is that worth noting?) Seating is adequate for couples or groups if need be. casual and open. Out door seating is nice and they have a neat little garden and chickens off to the side so I'm sure that's where part of their freshness comes from. Parking is plentiful. I highly recommend you stop in to abandon your false wawa gods and partake in a real hoagie.

OMG - three words...OLD WORLD LASAGNA. Wait, three more...brocolli rabe and sausage gnocchi...(oh that's 5 words)...Wait, really, three more words - BASIL PESTO GNOCCHI!!! These guys have really hit the nail on the head with their fabulous Italian food - both catered, available for pickup, and to sit and eat. The ambiance of the "restaurant" is like eating at your favorite deli/grocer with delighful selections of breads, cheeses, olive oils and meats. But you won't find just your typical spaghetti and meatballs or an Italian sub (although I bet they make them and I bet they're spectacular.) The parmesan chicken is perfect, their grilled mixed veggies held up being re-grilled for two more meals. And the antipasta ...wow, I could just keep eating theirs and make a meal of it. The REALLY fun part is that they make something new EVERY DAY and it's always delicious. If you want to have seriously delicious food for your next catered event, call and speak to Vinnie or Priscilla - they will SO take care of you. And if you ever want to see the most handsome family EVER to own an Italian catering restaurant then you should stop by and meet the Montesano's. They are a one of a kind family!

More like 4.5 stars (only because I am from South Philly and nothing compares to the real deal). However, this place is soooo close to the real deal. Hoagies are quite excellent. They only need to perfect the amount of salt/pepper/oregano on the italian to make it absolutely perfect. The Montesano is also another favorite of mine. I love the fact that they grow their tomato, basil, long hots, etc right outside. And they do carry DiBruno cheese spreads which are heaven on earth!

My son and I come here almost every Sunday, and I have tried at least fifteen different sandwiches. Every one is excellent! The roast pork with sharp provolone is the best in the area, saving us the long drive to South Philly. The Blue Note is another favorite. The people who work here are all really friendly. We love this place!

I'm lucky to have this place so close. We've used them for parties where we've spent over $250 and for just coffee and a cannoli. I don't think you can go wrong with anything they sell. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They steered us in the right direction with some of the selections for our parties.

Montesano's was so good I had to become a Yelper. This place is one of my favorite cafes in the United States...I travel a lot. A local friend took me here and I wasn't expecting much. I'm a foodie, but not a HUGE Italian food fan. Too many Americanized versions ruined it for me. However, my love for Italian food is reignited! I couldn't decide what I wanted because it all looked so good, fresh, and smelled amazing. I ended up getting the vrocolli rabe and sausage gnocchi. I was in heaven. Now, back in D.C., I crave it. If you live anywhere near here, yes, even Philly, I would make it a weekly ritual. The prices are fantastic, food is fresh and delicious and the Montesano brothers are incredibly friendly! Btw, be prepared to do a little shopping there too. YOu can buy great cheese, sausage, pasta, spreads, and breads...yummm.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
